Developing SECOND MIND: Meet Malik Carter

SECOND MIND is a near-future illustrated story project about a teenager growing up in a world where artificial intelligence is no longer new technology — it is simply part of everyday life.

Malik Carter

Malik is 16: observant, skeptical, quietly charismatic, and completely AI-native. He uses smart glasses, rides an automated school bus, and lives in a school system where students routinely use AI to turn rough thoughts into finished work. But Malik still carries a paper notebook — partly because sometimes he wants to think without an algorithm listening.

The world

The story takes place just far enough into the future for today’s emerging technology to feel ordinary. AI tutors, autonomous transportation, ambient computing, robotics, and personalized digital agents are woven into school, family life, work, and culture. The technology is not the spectacle. The people living with it are.

Why I’m developing this in public

TheoplisStewart.com is where I document the creative process: early character studies, concept art, story questions, workflow experiments, and lessons from building an original world. These development notes also serve as part of my portfolio, showing how an idea moves from rough concept toward a finished property.

Where the official series lives

SECOND MIND is now established as a Neuvieu Original. This personal site will continue to hold selected creator notes and behind-the-scenes work, while Neuvieu is the official home for the story archive, releases, characters, and world-building.
